“We most definitely wish to contribute to the development of volleyball and beach volleyball in Norway and other countries, both for players, coaches and all the other roles in our sports, by creating content that will bring knowledge and experience to people who want to learn and develop. If we can inspire people by giving hints and ideas, or by creating discussions on how we can get better both individually and together, then Sideout is a success in our eyes.”
Bjarne Nikolai Huus
Born and raised in Førde and Førde Volleyballklubb, we find one of Sideout´s two founders. Bjarne Nikolai is known for his hard work both on and off the court, and is passionate about our two sports both as a current professional volleyball player, and as a coach in the future. Bjarne Nikolai started his career as a player in Førde Volleyballklubb, before spending his high school years at the norwegian volleyball academy ToppVolley Norge (TVN). After graduating from TVN, his journey continued with four beautiful years as a player for Long Beach State in the NCAA, culminating with the title as National Champion in 2018. Bjarne Nikolai moved on to playing professionally in Cyprus and Finland, whilst being an established piece of the Norwegian indoor national team. Besides playing indoor, Bjarne Nikolai has also earned a silver medal at the 2013 U19 world championship in beach volleyball together with Christian Sandlie Sørum, and later a bronze medal at the World Tour in 2018 with Anders Berntsen Mol.
Bjarne Nikolai has a bachelor's degree in psychology from Long Beach State University, and is from August 2021 playing professionally in the Dutch Eredivisie for Amysoft Lycurgus.
Lars Fredrik Tvinde
One of Sideout´s two founders, and one of four in the Sideout team born and raised in beautiful Førde, located at the west coast of Norway. Full of initiative and creativity, that is a suitable description of Lars Fredrik. He gets the job done! Lars Fredrik has extensive experience from both Norwegian and international volleyball and beach volleyball. He started as an outside hitter and libero in Førde Volleyballklubb, before moving to three years as a student at ToppVolley Norge. Lars Fredrik spent one year playing professionally in Cyprus, and is now playing for Koll Volley in the top division in Norway, where he is both captain and setter (!). Combined with an indoor career, Lars Fredrik has also earned silver medals in both european- and world championships at U23 level in beach volleyball, together with Hendrik Nikolai Mol.
Lars Fredrik has a bachelor's degree in engineering (automation) from Høgskulen på Vestlandet, and is today working as sales- and marketing director for DeconX.
Bendik Gabriel Huus
The third guy in the Sideout team is, not surprisingly, also from the city of Førde. As an adviser and writer, Bendik has multiple roles in our team. With passion, and an analytical view from different angles and roles of our sports, Bendik brings valuable knowledge and input to our projects. Playing, Bendik spent his first years as both a junior and senior in Førde Volleyballklubb, and later with Oslo Volley and Koll Volley, always as a setter. Even though he had some fun years playing in the Mizuno league, coaching was always his main passion. His coaching career started with three years at ToppVolley Norge, combined with coaching Norwegian junior national teams in both volleyball and beach volleyball. The following three years Bendik spent as the head coach of the Koll Volley men's team in the Mizuno league, while studying at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences (NIH). Bendik is the assistant coach of the Norwegian senior national team indoor for men, and has also worked as the head coach for “Olympians of tomorrow”, a talent development program for beach volleyball in Norway.
Bendik has a bachelor's degree in sport science from NIH, with specialization in coaching, physiology and sports psychology, and has written a thesis on motor learning. Bendik is currently working as an assistant coach for Allianz MTV Stuttgart in the 1. Bundesliga for women.
Eirik Flatjord
Also from Førde in Norway, we find our own expert on strength and conditioning, Eirik. With a background from The Norwegian School of Sport Sciences (NIH), Eirik is educated as a performance coach, currently working as a personal trainer (PT) and nutrition guide. With ten years of experience, Eirik is the best selling PT in Førde. He is also the co-owner of Puls Førde.
Eirik is, in cooperation with Bjarne Nikolai, the creator of our tailor made training program for athletes in volleyball and beach volleyball, Sideout Performance.
Tore Aleksandersen
The final member in our team, and the only one not from Førde, is Tore Aleksandersen. Born and raised in Aukra, Norway, Tore is the most winning volleyball coach Norway has ever had on the international stage. From the start of his career as a coach for the women's team in Aukra, Tore has coached top teams in countries like Poland, Turkey, Germany and USA. He is a multiple league and cup winner in Germany for Schweriner SC, has won the pro-league in the USA with Minnesota Chill, and finished second in the Polish league with Impel Wrocław. Besides working as a club coach, Tore has also coached both the Norwegian and Finnish national team for women.
Tore is currently the head coach of Allianz MTV Stuttgart in the 1. Bundesliga for women, combined with being the head coach for the Norwegian senior national team for men.
